Photo-CD is a joint project between the University of Alicante and the University of Castilla-La mancha.
Photo-CD aims to develop novel hybrid CDs-titania and zeolite nanomaterials with enhanced and tuneable photophysical properties which will be subsequently evaluated in a variety of applications including, sensing and lighting.
The overarching objective of Photo-CD is to get fundamental understanding of organically-functionalized CDs encapsulated in crystalline microporous matrices, both zeolites and titanias, to engineer and overcome the current limitations in optical chemical sensing and solid-state lighting.
1. Photo-CD deals with the development of novel hybrid tuneable materials that will form the basis for the next generation of photonics devices for sensing and photocatalytic applications.
2. Photo-CD will improve materials’ functionality and durability in photonics, whilst increasing circularity-by-design (starting from sustainable sources), which will help to mitigate good health, clean water and sanitation, innovation and infrastructure, sustainable cites and communities, responsible consumption and climate action.
